The House of Ruth is a one-of-a-kind facility in the City of Tustin that will provide a pathway of support to empower families to avoid homelessness or to exit homelessness as quickly as possible.

House of Ruth contains seven apartment-style short-term housing units and a Community Resource Center. Services will be tailored to meet the unique needs of each family supported by House of Ruth. Thanks to our partnership with HomeAid Orange County and the City of Tustin, the House of Ruth is anticipated to open this Summer 2023!

Support House of Ruth

A PROMISE TO BRING FAMILIES HOME

House of Ruth will contain seven apartment-style units ranging in size from one to three bedrooms. The units provide emergency short-term housing for homeless families while our team provides housing navigation services to help families secure long-term, permanent housing. This design is particularly important to support larger families, including multi-generational families, that typically cannot be accommodated by other housing programs. Each unit contains private bathrooms with showers so that homeless families have a safe place to bathe – a resource that currently is lacking for homeless families in Orange County.

House of Ruth's Community Resource Center will offer vital support programs that promote stability, health, healing and self-sufficiency. Services include laundry, shower, access to basic needs, food, housing navigation, case management, and community workshops.

A COMMUNITY-WIDE PARTNERSHIP

Family Promise of Orange County, HomeAid Orange County, and the City of Tustin are collaborating, bolstered by robust support from the faith community, to combat family homelessness in Orange County with the House of Ruth Building Campaign.

Once construction is complete, HomeAid Orange County will turn over the House of Ruth to Family Promise of Orange County to staff and operate this program in line with our mission.

HomeAid Orange County brings 31 years of housing development experience to this project and will ensure the construction project is completed on time and on budget by providing a builder captain who will help to minimize costs and secure in-kind donations of time, labor, and materials.

With a shared commitment to ending family homelessness in our community, the City of Tustin is providing 18,500 sq. ft. of land for the House of Ruth, based on a Disposition and Development Agreement approved by the Tustin City Council in early 2020.
