Who We Are - Our Mission & Programs
Our Mission: The mission of the Family Promise of Orange County is to help families experiencing homelessness achieve housing stability, through our housing programs, meals, case management, and hospitality.
Our Vision: We believe that no child should have to sleep in a car, in a park, or under a bridge, and that every family deserves a chance to be whole and have a roof over their head once again.
Our Goal: Provide each family in our care individualized and holistic support that enables them to return to full independence and self-sufficiency.
Family Promise is a community-based approach to solving homelessness, engaging both the local community as well as houses of faith in an effort to combat family homelessness. Families in our program receive a full complement of resources, support, and training as they work towards their own stability and self-reliance.
Emergency Shelter: Host Congregations
Families entering our emergency shelter program stay as the guests of congregations throughout Orange County. These houses of faith open their doors to provide a bed for the evening, a warm supper and cold breakfast/lunch, and the hospitality of a loving community.
Supportive Services: Family Resource Center aka "Day Center"
Families in our program have access to numerous resources, including but not limited to job and credit counseling, welfare and legal advocacy, and individual and family therapy - all provided at our Day Center located in Orange, CA.
Jacob's House Transitional Housing Program
For families who need a longer period of assistance, Family Promise provides up to 6 months of ongoing case-management and minimal rent through our transitional housing program.
Rental Support & Aftercare
When families graduate from either our Congregational Network or our Transitional Housing program they are eligible to receive grants for rental support to aid their move into a permanent home.
Support Congregations, while not hosting families directly, support the network by providing volunteers for host sites and the Family Resource Center, supplies and food for the families, and in some cases financial support for families when they graduate our program.
Supplemental Food Services
Many of our families still struggle to keep their fridges stocked after graduating from our program. In order to promote continued stability, we offer non-perishible food services to our program graduates.
