Family Promise of Orange County Graduates our first Family!

 

Family Promise of Orange County is pleased to announce that our first family graduated from the program!  Not only did they find secure housing, but the mom also successfully enlisted in the National Guard and will be serving our country as a water purification specialist.  Following this great news, we also are excited to share that we now have not one, but two new families in our program, bringing our current count to 3 families with a total of 10 guests! 

We are also thrilled to announce that FPOC was recently awarded funding from two prestigious local foundations:  The First American Foundation and the Peter and Virginia Ueberroth Foundation.  These organizations recognize the deep need for homelessness services focused on families and are supporting our work in Orange County.  Check out our “Partners” tab to learn more about how organizations are supporting FPOC, or click here

Also, homelessness continues to gain press attention.  USA Today recently reported that 8 million children nationally (12% of all children in California) have been or will be affected by foreclosures.  Check out the article below.

 

Report estimates 8 million children hurt by foreclosures

One in 10 U.S. children has been or will be affected by the nation's surge in foreclosures, a new report says.

Five years into the foreclosure crisis, an estimated 2.3 million children have lived in homes lost to foreclosure, according to a report from First Focus, a Washington, D.C-based bipartisan advocacy group focused on families.
