The Board of Directors for Family Promise of Orange County (FPOC) and Executive Director Bryan Lake announce Ross Chun as the organization’s new Director of Development.

Ross is a two-term Mayor and current Council member of the City of Aliso Viejo and comes to FPOC with two decades of volunteer and professional Development experience with numerous humanitarian and healthcare non-profits in Los Angeles and Orange County. Ross’ professional experience

includes Advertising, Marketing and Technology industry experience, as well as board positions for several local, county, and statewide agencies.

FPOC’s mission for helping families experiencing homelessness gain housing stability aligns closely with all the work Ross has been involved in. Ross’ hopes and dreams for his new role include “helping Family Promise grow through an extensive, sustainable fundraising program so that we can effectively serve the County of Orange.”

Ross received his MBA from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio Business School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Cal State Fullerton. He is excited to use his skills and knowledge to serve Family Promise.

Ross’ extended family is from Honolulu, but he was born in Maryland and moved to California at the age of six. He grew up in the Irvine and Tustin area and has lived in Aliso Viejo since 2001 with his wife, children, and rescue dog Ari. Since moving to the city, he has volunteered for several community organizations and works with schools, in the senior community, and is an annual guest lecturer at Soka University. One of Ross’ proudest accomplishments is the annual hosting of the Adolescent Mental Health Forum, providing parents, teachers, and students with access to important information and the experience of mental health professionals.

During COVID, Ross founded Feeding Aliso Viejo, which helped connect county resources, non-profit organizations, and the school district so that families

experiencing food insecurity could receive free meals throughout each week.

When he is not busy raising funds for important causes, volunteering, or mentoring students, Ross turns to podcasting. He is the host of the “Finding Ohana Podcast” where he interviews a wide variety of notable people about their unique family histories. Through this medium, Ross has connected corporate CEO’s, non-profit Executive Directors, community leaders and exciting members of the arts community in a format that is entertaining, and often amusing.
