Today is International Day of Families!

Updated: Oct 7, 2021

Founded by the United Nations (UN) in 1994, International Day of Families is observed every May 15 to honor the importance of family unity.

At Family Promise of Orange County, we believe all families no matter the size, structure, or economic status, belong together. We are taking this day to celebrate families, but also to raise awareness on how homelessness jeopardizes family stability.

Currently, there are more than 460 families, including nearly 1,000 children, experiencing homelessness in Orange County. That number continues to grow in one of the wealthiest counties in Southern California.

Experiencing homelessness is an extremely difficult and scary time for children and their families. That is why we work diligently to preserve family unity by keeping our families together as we help them achieve housing stability.

With each family we help, our hearts are warmed to see how through the support and love between a family, they grow resilient to overcome life’s toughest challenges. Our families truly are inspirations!

Thank you to those who help us in supporting our families. We hope you are able to be with your loved ones today and every day!
